E' stato un drammaturgo, paroliere e attore inglese. È ricordato soprattutto per i suoi libretti di teatro musicale , tra cui The Duchess of Dantzic (1903), The School Girl (1903), Véronique (1905) e The Little Michus (1907), adattando spesso opere straniere per il palcoscenico britannico.
